Where the Quaint Things Are

- In a forest of daisies lies a young girl of twenty. She was in no hurry to grow up, and much preferred to live in a land of make believe. the land of the quaint things. this is no ordinary land - this is a land where unicorns and sea creatures alike, join the rosy cheeked girl on tea parties. A land where gnomes and deer accompany her for adventures on overcast days. A land where she is free to hop, skip, and sing at the top of her lungs with the sparrows. A land where French crocodiles ask her to dance. Now if you please excuse her, she must be off to concoct a few plans on how to save the world.

Hey! I had no idea about this until I saw your post!! I saw an article online where the literary world is "holding its breath," as Mr. Salinger apparently was a PROLIFIC writer over all these years. No one knows how much MORE there is...can you even imagine?!?
It's always sad when an icon passes. A blessing that he lived a good long life though.
I wonder - in light of the statement he made in the New York Times in 1974, "There is a marvelous peace in not publishing ... I write just for myself and my own pleasure." (by the way I LOVE, LOVE THAT STATEMENT!!! I need to remember that), do you think there will be unpublished works of his, published at some point? From the looks of his statement, I'm not sure he would have ever wanted that.
